Sam was an inaugural member of the Newport Baseball Club “Ewes” Softball Team and won the Club Best & Fairest on 2 occasions in the 80's.  Her whole family was involved at the RAMS with dad John a former RAMS player and Life Member since 1978, sister Nicky a talented softballer and brother Craig also a baseballer.   Tragically after a long and courageous fight, Breast Cancer finally claimed one of Newport Rams Softball Teams shining stars.
