CRONAN JOINS RAMS

Queenslander Scott Cronan joins Rams as Throwing Coach

The Newport Rams are pleased to announce the appointment of Queenslander Scott Cronan to the new position of Throwing Coach. The 6’2″ right-handed two-way player will guide the club’s players through an arm development program this summer. The new program, brainchild of Rams Head Coach Jared Berman will see all players participate in the program, with key focus on the clubs young senior pitchers. “We want to build depth in our pitching stocks” Berman said “Having healthy arms and players that can deliver results in all grades will make our entire club stronger”.

Cronan, who played for Surfers Paradise Baseball Club last summer had a 5.29 ERA in 32.1 innings of work, striking out 41 hitters will add some extra depth to the Rams rotation. The 23 year old has played Division 1 in the GBL for the last 7 years, winning the GBL championship with Surfers Paradise in 2017/2018, club MVP at Redlands Baseball Club in the 16/17 summer seasons and as a player/coach won 3 gold medals and a silver in 4 years with Griffith University Baseball, earning a spot on the Australian Team at the World University Games, Taiwan 2018.

Having been on the coaching staff of Baseball Queensland’s development camps and through the South Coast Academy of Sport for Gold Coast juniors, Cronan will bring a wealth of knowledge to the Rams. Following his relocation to Melbourne, Cronan will be available to run private and small group development sessions when COVID-19 restrictions are eased.
