Newport Women’s Premier 1s vs Essendon
Newport Women’s Premier 1s put together a dominant all-round performance on Saturday, blanking Essendon 10–0 at Newport Baseball Club.
Newport struck early in the first, with Dale singling to left to open the scoring before Yamane brought another home with a sacrifice fly. The Rams kept the pressure on in the second, with Kuwamoto’s single, Dale’s double, and a forced error helping extend the early lead.
The runs kept coming in the third, with Kuwamoto again driving one in via a sacrifice fly, before Anglin grounded into a fielder’s choice to plate another.
On the mound, Prentice-Evans was outstanding, throwing five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, striking out six, and controlling the game from start to finish.
With the bats, Newport finished with 15 hits. Dale and Sutherland led the way with three hits each, while Kuwamoto, Hoshino, and Anglin all added multiple hits. Kinjo also caused havoc on the bases with two stolen bases.
